EconomicBridge, operated by Bizra Farms Integrated Nigeria Limited (RC 1929412), Kebbi State, Nigeria
This notice explains:
- what personal data EconomicBridge collects, and why;
- what messages we send, and who we send them to;
- who we share personal data with, and how long we keep it;
- the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Who is responsible
Bizra Farms Integrated Nigeria Limited is the data controller for personal data processed through economicbridge.org and the EconomicBridge platform.
Our privacy contact is our Data Protection lead: bizra@economicbridge.org, +234 703 791 9465.
2. What EconomicBridge is, and what it is not
EconomicBridge analyses open satellite and public data, such as vegetation, rainfall, storms, fires, night light and land change. It reports results for areas: states, local government areas, wards and named villages.
- Population figures are published estimates. Figures such as "about 9,000 people in this village" come from open datasets. They describe places, not people.
- We do not identify households or individuals from satellite data.
3. Personal data we collect
| Who | What we collect | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account users (staff of government agencies and partner organisations we give access to) | Name, work email, optional phone number, organisation, role, language, and the states you may view. We keep a hash of your password, never the password itself. We also keep a record of actions you take in the platform, including the IP address they came from. | To give you access, send you the messages in section 4, keep the platform secure, and show your organisation its usage. | Performance of our agreement with your organisation; legitimate interest in security. |
| Farmers, cooperative leaders and farmer leaders who receive messages | Phone number, name where given, language, local government area and ward, the kinds of messages you agreed to receive, and a record of messages sent to you. | To send you the messages in section 4. | Consent, given when you were enrolled by a partner agency or by us. You may withdraw it at any time. |
| Field officers and extension agents | Your account details (as above), plus the coordinates you check and the leaf photographs you upload, with their GPS location if the photo carries one. The location and result of a leaf diagnosis or farm check appear on the platform's maps, without your name. | To analyse the plot or leaf you submitted, keep a record of it, and send you results and field tasks. | Performance of our agreement with your organisation. |
| Contacts at organisations and agencies subscribed to alerts or reports | Name and work email of the contact, the organisation, and the alerts or reports chosen. | To send the alert digests and reports your organisation asked for. | Our agreement with your organisation. |
| People who contact us through the website form | Name, organisation, email, optional phone number, area of interest, region and message. | To answer your enquiry. | Your request, and our legitimate interest in responding. |
| Anyone who makes a data-protection request | The details you give us in the request. | To handle it. | Legal obligation. |
What we do not do:
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- When you sign in, your browser stores sign-in tokens in its local storage. These keep you signed in, and nothing else.
4. Messages we send
We only send a message where that service is running for your area or organisation. Some of the services below are running today. Others will start as the platform grows, and this notice already covers them.
You can stop messages at any time by telling the partner agency that enrolled you, or by contacting us.
Alerts are not an emergency service. In an emergency, follow the guidance of NEMA, your State Emergency Management Agency and NiMet.
To farmers, cooperative leaders and farmer leaders — by SMS, in your language where available
Service messages:
- confirmation that you were enrolled;
- how to stop messages;
- changes to the service.

- Storm notices after a severe storm is recorded in your local government area.
- Dry-spell and planting-window advisories about when the rains start, pause or end.

New channels. Messages may in future also be sent by voice call or messaging app (for example WhatsApp), to reach people who do not read SMS easily. Before we start a new channel or a new provider for it, we will update this notice.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We use these service providers, who process data on our instructions:
| Provider | Service | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | Hosting, database, storage; SMS through Amazon SNS where used | European Union (Ireland) |
| Resend | Email delivery | European Union (Ireland) |
| Termii | SMS delivery | Nigeria |
| Mapbox and Esri | Map and imagery tiles. Your browser requests them, which reveals your IP address. Mapbox may collect anonymous usage events. | United States / global |
| Google Fonts | Web fonts. Your browser requests them from Google. | Global |
We also share personal data:
- with partner agencies, as far as needed to run the messages they enrolled you for;
- with your own organisation, where it has administrator access to its own users;
- when the law requires it.
6. International transfers
Our database, file storage and email provider are in Ireland, in the European Union. Some other providers operate outside Nigeria.
We transfer personal data outside Nigeria only as the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 permits, to providers bound by contract to protect it with appropriate security.
7. How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Account data | While the account is active, and 12 months after it is closed |
| Message recipients (phone number and preferences) | Until you or the partner agency ask us to stop |
| Records of messages sent | 3 years |
| Farm checks and leaf photographs | For the term of the organisation's agreement, and 12 months after |
| Records of actions in the platform (audit records) | 3 years |
| Contact enquiries | 24 months, unless they lead to an agreement |
| Data-protection requests | 3 years after they are completed |
| Server logs | 14 days |
Deleted records and erasure. The platform keeps an archive of changed and deleted records, so that nothing is lost by mistake. The one exception is erasure: when you ask us to erase your personal data and the law allows it, we delete it and every archived copy of it. We keep only a record that the erasure was carried out, which contains no personal data.
8. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal data;
- ask us to correct it;
- ask us to erase it;
- ask us to restrict how we use it;
- object to how we use it;
- ask for it in a portable form;
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent, including to stop messages.
To make a request, email bizra@economicbridge.org. We will answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Security
We protect personal data with:
- Encryption: in transit (TLS 1.2 and 1.3) and at rest (encrypted database storage).
- Access controls: only authorised operators can see accounts, message recipients, subscriptions and data-protection requests.
- Audit records of actions taken in the platform.
- Monitoring and daily backups.
No system is perfectly secure. We will tell you and the Commission about a breach where the law requires it.
10. Children
EconomicBridge is a service for institutions. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal data. Estimates of children under five are area-level figures from published datasets. They are not data about any child.
11. Changes to this notice
We will post any update here with a new date. Where a change is significant, we will tell account users by email and message recipients by SMS.
