These terms apply to anyone who uses economicbridge.org and the EconomicBridge platform. By using it you accept them. If you use it for an organisation, you accept them on its behalf.
1. The service
EconomicBridge turns open satellite data and public statistics into information for institutions. That includes:
- land and vegetation change;
- rainfall and storms;
- night light and population estimates at named villages;
- aid activity reported by organisations.
Some parts are open to view. Others need an account issued to an organisation.
2. What the information is, and is not
Estimates and measurements, not guarantees. Satellite data has limits, and our reports state them:
- Cloud can hide the ground.
- "No light at night" means no light visible from space, not proof of no electricity.
- Population figures are published estimates.
- Detections are leads to be checked, with measured accuracy where we have measured it.
Decisions remain yours. Verify on the ground before acting where the consequences matter. You are responsible for decisions you take using the platform.
No attribution to groups. The platform reports physical change. It never attributes change to any community, ethnic or occupational group, and neither may users (see section 4).
3. Accounts
- Keep your credentials confidential. Do not share an account between people.
- Tell us straight away at bizra@economicbridge.org if you think an account has been misused.
- Organisations are responsible for the people they give access to, and for removing access when someone leaves.
4. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the platform to target, harass, discriminate against or incite violence against any person, community or group;
- try to gain access you have not been given, test or bypass its security, or disrupt the service;
- scrape, bulk-download or resell the platform's content, or build a competing service from it, without a written agreement with us;
- use the platform's information in a project, programme, proposal, report or publication without our written permission (see section 5);
- remove source attributions or licence notices from information you reuse;
- use it for anything unlawful under Nigerian law or the law where you are.
We may suspend access that breaks these rules.
5. Ownership
The platform belongs to Bizra Farms Integrated Nigeria Limited. That covers its software, methods, models and presentation, and the information it produces: its analyses, detections, scores, maps and lists.
Viewing is not permission to use. You may view the platform as these terms allow. To use its information in a project, programme, proposal, report or publication, you need a signed service agreement with us or our written permission. That applies however the information is taken, including screenshots and copying by hand. Where we give permission, credit EconomicBridge and keep the source attributions shown with the information.
Your uploads remain yours. When you upload data, you give us the right to process it to provide the service to you.
Open datasets keep their own licences. These include Copernicus Sentinel, NASA, GRID3, Meta and CIESIN HRSL, Esri land cover and IATI. These terms do not limit your rights in those datasets taken from their original sources. Our analyses of them are ours.
6. Fees
The public pages are free to view, as a preview of the service. Using the platform's information, and downloading data, are paid services. They are provided under the service agreement we sign with your organisation, which sets the fees and payment terms.
7. Availability
We work to keep the service available and we monitor it continuously. We may pause it for maintenance, and we do not promise uninterrupted service except where a signed agreement sets a service level.
8. Alerts and messages
EconomicBridge sends alerts and advisories by SMS and email. Farmers and cooperative leaders are enrolled through partner agencies. Organisations, field officers and account users choose their alerts.
- Information, not an emergency service. Alerts are information to help decisions. In an emergency, follow the guidance of NEMA, your State Emergency Management Agency and NiMet.
- Delivery is not guaranteed. Networks can delay or drop messages. Do not rely on receiving an alert.
- Check before relying on one. An alert describes what satellites and weather data show for an area. Check on the ground before acting where the consequences matter.
- Stop any time. Recipients can stop messages at any time, as set out in the Privacy Notice.
- Do not change and forward. Do not change an alert and pass it on as if it came from us or from a government agency.
9. Privacy
How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Notice.
10. Liability
To the extent Nigerian law allows:
- the service is provided "as is";
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions taken using the information;
- our total liability is limited to the fees paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Suspension and ending access
- We may suspend or end access that breaks these terms, or where required by law.
- Organisations may end their use in line with their agreement.
12. Changes
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with its date. Continued use after an update means acceptance.
13. Signed agreements
Where your organisation has a signed agreement with us, that agreement governs your use. If it conflicts with these terms, the agreement prevails.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- Talk first. The parties will try to settle a dispute by discussion.
- Then mediation or arbitration. Failing that, it goes to mediation or arbitration under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, seated in Abuja.
